The global sports equipment and sailboats brand Elan introduced on Friday 22 June 2012 in the Portoroz marina the new line of the cruising boat Impression, Elan Impression 494 cruiser. It has the largest cockpit in its class and boasts solutions otherwise characteristic of the superyacht, such as the ingenious integrated gangway that provides easy sea access. It also boasts opulent design, created by the Humphreys Design team. Led by Rob Humphreys, a world famous designer, who is known for his expertise in designing sailing boats, it successfully combines fast, modern hulls with all the comfort and convenience needed by today's cruising sailor.

Below we give you a glimpse of the event itself (photos from the Elan Impression 494 test drive) but first here's a few words about the ingenious cruiser followed by an overview of its technical specifications. This beautiful 49 feet long deck-saloon cruiser with spacious interior has two functional rudders and deck equipment adapted for sailing with only a few members of crew. Maximum outdoor comfort has been achieved through the folding table and long U-shaped dinette benches (2.10 m) that can accomodate 8 people easily, while the gracious space area between the wheels allows for smooth movement while on board. As already mentioned, the ingenious integrated platform provides easy sea access while the outer platform has an outdoor mini-bar and refrigerator and even a kitchen with a sink (optional). Certainly, this is a boat that could quickly spoil you forever. The helmsman position, for example, is complete with two seats aft and plenty of space for instruments. The open transom reveals a spacious transom storage box for a tender or other equipment, such as surfboards or kayaks. When opened the platform acts as a large surface close to sea-level, perfect for sea access or showering. The flushed transom platform, which is leveled with the cockpit floor, gives a sporty feeling to the yacht, while the full-closing transom variation ensures more safety to the crew and provides a classier look.
The interior has plenty of space and natural light thanks to an elevated wheelhouse and numerous glass walls and windows. In the saloon there is a large table with U-shaped bench seat and two chairs that have an extendable footrest. Vis-a-vis a spacious and functional kitchen, that is located in front of the benches on the lower level, there is a navigation corner. The cabins have lots of storage areas and are characterized by the elegance of carefully selected furniture and accompanying accessories. A fresh look, clean lines and carefully chosen details all play a key role in making this boat with great navigable features very special, a wonderful example of style and craft.
