Croatian Catamaran on OI 2012

The Zagreb Naval Institute and Pula's shipyard Tehnomont will design and build a catamaran that will transport tourists during the 2012 Olympics in London on the river Thames.

The catamaran that will transport tourists during the Olympic Games in London 2012. was designed by the Marine Institute in Zagreb and it will be build at the shipyard Tehnomont in Pula, Croatia. The London City Cruises has entrusted this job to the Croatian companies because of the quality of the proposed project and a possible fast delivery. The interior will be designed by the Slovenian company Metallica Sevnica.


The ship will have a capacity of 599 passengers. It is 37 m long, 14.60 m wide and 7.56 m tall. it will attain a maximum speed of 12knots, while consuming very little fuel.  For the reduced consumption of merit are asymmetrical hulls, combined with solar panels and biodiesel as fuel. The ship will have computerized system management for ballast tanks that will allow adjustment of draft depending on the tides.
