According to the latest announcements by the Split city authorities guests on cruisers could sail to the most famous beach in Split, Bacvice on tenders, tie down, disembark and proceed to engage in a tour of the city. That way Bacvice could become something they've never been - a dock for boats.

But first the city, jointly with the troubled "Constructor-engineering" should seize ownership of the beach facilities and the company "Bacvice beach".

"The development plans include a concrete plateau, i.e., a small dock on the east side" said Milivoje Marusic, head of Subsection for supervision and coordination of utility companies.

One of the reasons for partial dislocation of binding tenders from cruisers are the crowds that are formed due to a great number of cruise ships anchored in front of Split and even more numerous tenders that at the same time stay in front of the dock at the pier of St. Nicholas.

But unloading of passengers is still running properly and according to regulations. City plans could soon face insurmountable obstacles, more specifically, the Regulation on Port Order of the Split Port Authority.

The rules clearly state that a sea taxi transport and transfer of passengers from cruise ships are allowed only in the city port, on the bindings defined for this purpose.

"Arrangements for a pier on Bacvice are just one of the proposals, not an ongoing performance," Marusic said when asked whether the ideas on city's "Marine plans" have reached the relevant port authorities.

"If we proceed with the realization of such a plan, and the basic data and contacts with relevant departments have been achieved, the proposed amendments to the regional plan of Bacvice will be carried out according to a  prescribed procedure," he added.
